Great online art

I was looking at other artists’ work to get inspiration on execution and technique for a few projects I am working on when I came across one of the best graphic stories I have read in a long while, if ever. It’s called Bayou by Jeremy Love and Patrick Morgan. and can be found on Zuda Comics.

I can only describe it as a dark sort of an Alice in Wonderland. It carries references to other stories and legends that some people may miss. It is not overdrawn or visually busy. Some comic artists try too hard. They try to dazzle you with their draftsmanship, giving you nowhere to rest the eye. Neither is it minimal or amateurish, making you guess where (or what) the characters are. The color and scenery are just enough so you get an understanding of what’s going on in the scene.

I could say more but I am trying not to give a review. I’ll just say that the story is ongoing so if you decide to start reading, prepare to come back again and again to see the next chapter.

Animation

I remember how fond I used to be of attending the animation festivals and going to things like Comic-Con when I lived on the East Coast. I would enjoy animations from the National Film Board of Canada and places around the world.

When I moved to a place where things are not that easy to get to I started looking for animations online. The first site I found was Atom Films. I had dial up at the time but it I felt the films were worth the wait.

Recently I started thinking about those wonderful animations from The National Film Board of Canada and started looking for them. So if you want to catch up on several years of great animation and other films, check out this site.
