These characters were created from an art challenge. The challenge was to create two characters. One character wears a red vest with 6 pockets, a top hat, a bow tie, and carries a multi tool in his/her back pocket. The original name was to be Cincinnati Schwartz. Schwartz has a sidekick named Diamond, who lives inside Cincinnati’s hat.
I found this fun, and challenging, except for the name. I don’t believe there are any Schwartz’s in my family, being African American and all, so I changed it to Jones. Still not great, but I’m stuck with it now. Why not Schwartz? I identify with Cincinnati. She has the dreads I used to have, and wears glasses. She can do things I can’t do, like travel to far off and exotic places. Even other galaxies and dimensions.
Cincinnati is brown with sun bleached dreads, kind of like some islanders I have seen. She is an adventurer who travels the world and space. You never know where you are going to find them. Diamond is a white squirrel from Olney, IL. famous for its white squirrel population. He is also adventurous, but in a different way. He is mischievous, and impetuous. He can sometimes seem a little callous toward Cincinnati. Sometimes having fun, at Cincinnati’s expense, or not paying attention when his human is in a pickle, but in the end, they’re the best of buddies.
