Hazbin Hotel

Let’s all enjoy a fun romp in Hell shall we?

Hazbin Hotel is a series that shares the same universe as Helluva Boss. Both were created by Vivienne Medrano. Both series take place in Hell. The Pilot of Hazbin Hotel is a Webby Award winner. The rest of the series has since been acquired by Amazon. It is associated with some big dogs like SpindleHorse, Bento Box Entertainment, and A24.

Charlie. The daughter of Lucifer and Lilith.

The beings who used to be human have taken on different body shapes to reflect their Earthly debauchery. Example: The little maid, is not only very short, she has a single eye, showing her myopic view of the world. What is her view? In her own words, “Stab, stab, stab.” She carries a sharp knife at all times and uses it pretty much indiscriminately. The character who calls himself Angel Dust is a drug loving porn star, with two extra sets of arms. This is because he was in a crime family in life and helped weave a web of crime. He might have also had a hand in everything dealing with that family.

Some of the gang.

The main character in the series is the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith. She is one of the beings who was born in Hell, so she is really not human, although she is the most human person in the entire series. She thought up the idea of the Hazbin Hotel as a place where condemned souls may be redeemed, and ascend to Heaven. She is even more human than Adam, the original man. He is in Heaven because of his birthright, but he is a first class prick, and brags about it. He controls an army of evil and sadistic angels who are as narcissistic as he is.

Adam. The original jerk. All fangs and no pupils. Ribs are his favorite food.

Each episode contains two Broadway quality musical numbers Go figure. I love the clever songs. They are catchy and fun. They are so good they can be found on platforms like Spotify. You may want to listen to the songs again and again. There are also official music videos that are not included in the series.

The character design is wonderful. As I wrote, the characters are no longer fully human, but have taken on demonic characteristics like horns, hooves, sharp teeth, and long tails. The voice talents are second to none. I could tell they were having fun doing this. The character design is awesome. The designs are deceptively simple, yet great detail is put into things like facial expressions.

There are so many Easter eggs and things to notice and read it is almost impossible to catch everything in one viewing. Pictures on the wall, the apple decor, and eyes everywhere are all things to take note of.

This series is NOT for children. There are lots of references to sex, killing, drinking, drugs, sexual abuse, violence, and things that made me squirm a bit. They are, after all, in Hell.

Alister. Otherwise known as The Radio Demon

I have watched these several times. It’s fun to see what reviewers have to say on You tube. I will no doubt watch it again. Others are still catching details I have missed.
